India vs Australia 3rd T20I Highlights: Glenn Maxwell finished unbeaten on 104 off 48 and helped Australia pull off a chase of 223.

India vs Australia , 3rd T20: IND vs AUS, Glenn Maxwell’s fiery unbeaten hundred carried Australia to a five-wicket win over India in the third T20I here on Tuesday.

With this win, Australia managed to cut India’s series lead to 2-1 in the five-match rubber.

Maxwell made 104 off 48 balls (8×4, 8×6) as the Aussies went past India’s 222 for 3 in the last ball of the match.

Skipper Matthew Wade remained not out on a crucial 28 off 16 balls.

Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi took two wickets for India.

Earlier, Ruturaj Gaikwad’s maiden international hundred was the cornerstone of India’s big total. Gaikwad made a rollicking unbeaten 123 off 57 balls.

Batting first, India lost Yashasvi Jaiswal (6) on the second delivery of second over as Jason Behrendorff, as Wade catches the ball. Just after this, Kane Richardson departs Ishan Kishan on the third delivery of third over, as he was caught by Stoinis.

Following this, Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav entered to bat and scored 39 in just 29 balls, before being sent to pavilion by Hardie in the 11th over. After this, Ruturaj Gaikwad paced up the innings and completed his first T20I century off 52 balls. He scored 123 unbeaten runs 57 balls. Tilak Verma also scored unbeaten 31 runs in 24 balls. Both set up a 141 run partnership in just 67 balls.

India scored a total of 222/3 runs in 20 overs and gave a target of 223 runs for Australia to chase.

For Australia, Kane Richardson, Jason Behrendorff and Aaron Hardie picked one wicket each.

The Men in Blue have looked in exquisite touch in the two T20 encounters so far, with the Indian batsmen following in the footsteps of their skipper, scoring over 200 runs in both matches. Meanwhile, India’s bowlers like Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, Ravi Bishnoi and the rest will be looking to contribute more to ease the pressure on the batsmen, who are already stretched thin in the absence of bowling all-rounder Hardik Pandya.

Suryakumar Yadav, who is captaining the side for the first time in this T20 series, is yet to taste defeat and in his maiden series as skipper, SKY will be looking to make it memorable by inflicting a stunning series defeat on the Kangaroos after the ODI World Cup.

Ahead of Tuesday’s T20 clash, Australia will be without the services of veteran opener Steve Smith and wrist-spinner Adam Zampa. Meanwhile, a host of other Australian players, including Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis, will be heading home on Wednesday, with Cricket Australia already calling in replacements.

Australia, who have looked exhausted after a prolonged stay in India, will be looking to improve in all departments to stay in contention in this series, which has taken on added significance with the T20 World Cup next year on the horizon.

16 Arshdeep Singh provided the breakthrough with a swinging delivery sending Hardie back with a score of 16(12).

17. Avesh Khan who came in to replace Mukesh Kumar scalped his first wicket of the night dismissing the dangerous-looking Head for a score of 35(18).

18. Bishnoi completely bamboozled Josh Inglis with a quick googly which zipped through the gap and clipped the bails off the stumps.

19. Ravi Bishnoi’s spin continued to cause trouble to Australia’s batters as he sent Tim David back to the pavilion for a golden duck. But from that point, Maxwell channelled his inner self that guided Australia to victory against Afghanistan in the World Cup and silenced the Indian bowling line-up with his brute strength.

20. The final two overs saw Prasidh Krishna and Axar Patel combining to concede 45 runs. Prasidh had 21 runs to defend in the final over but Maxwell with his raw hitting power left the speedster with no answers. Australia clinched the victory by five wickets.
